I wouldn't necessarily say it's specifically for vanquishing, but this is what I've used ever since I got into HM, and has gotten me through everything everywhere save Perdition Rock, which I haven't done:
[build prof=R/any name="BHA Ranger" Marksmanship=12+1+1 Expertise=11+1 Wilderness=6][Broad Head Arrow][Distracting Shot][Savage Shot][Read The Wind][Pin Down][Natural Stride]["Finish Him!"][Sunspear Rebirth Signet][/build]
BHA synergizes well with a MM. Past the first three skills, I'd say the rest is up to player desire.

The build I run is very similar to Shayne's:
[build prof=R/any name="BHA Ranger" Marksmanship=11+1 Expertise=12+1+1 Wilderness=6+1][Apply Poison][Broad Head Arrow][Distracting Shot][Savage Shot][Sloth Hunter's Shot][Lightning Reflexes]["Finish Him!"][Sunspear Rebirth Signet][/build]
I run this when I want a cover condition for the daze; if it's irrelevant I'll completely drop Wilderness and use [Expert Focus] in place of [[Apply Poison]. That said, my ranger hasn't done very much in HM so it's not near as well tested as Shayne's.
Edit: you could also try the fabled [Broad Head Arrow][Epidemic][Volley] combo.

The resurrection skills are optional for both. These are mainly what I use/used, depending on the area.

Standard BHA, distracting shot (a must for any ranger bar), sloths for some damage, RtW for faster arrows to compliment the daze and extra damage, drunken master for faster faster attack and movement costs 5e every min or so, ebon sin compliments daze, finish him screws most monsters over. Rebirth - last gasp res if i've kited and have the ability to bring the team back without dp inducing myself, rarely used. Even the most stubborn monk resilience falls to this build.
Works well with sabway. Only change I would make is to replace sloths with savage shot.

[barrage][splinter weapon][distracting shot][savage shot][lightning reflexes][pain inverter][whirling defense][flesh of my flesh]
I've used this with Sabway necros (3), and hench healer/illusion/motivation/fire(or switch with earth) for all elonian vanquishing, most of canthan vanq's, but only a little of Tryia so far so I'm not sure how well it works there...
[whirling defense] is only there for extra defense if h/h start falling, but could be switched for [asuran scan] or other additional damage...as a /rt I like [flesh of my flesh] for the absence of recharge time..enables a very quick rez of entire party if need be
I've tried the [broad head arrow][apply poison] and other condition spamming builds but I typically only use those on specific missions or areas where I know heavy interrupts are needed (i.e. The Drought in Rilohn Refuge, or similar)...i dislike the wait time for applications (such as apply poison, etc.) when vanq'ing, but w/e....hth and gl

[Incendiary Arrows][Savage Shot][Distracting Shot][Ignite Arrows][Barbed Trap][Dust Trap][Ebon Battle Standard of Honor][Flesh of my Flesh]
Good dps and utility, the traps can be replaced with a stance or other pve skills but I find them useful when playing with heroes for when I agro and they help handle melee enemies.

I really REALLY need to get Broad Head Arrow. I've been capping elites like crazy, but in the shiverpeaks and over in EoTN area.
I'm in the place to do the Vizunah Mission with my ranger and I should just do that and get it over with. For some reason, I really don't like Factions... I hate KC area and just can't seem to get past it.

For the majority of elona and eotn vanqs i ran sabway, and I was using a build based on the following:
Broad Head Arrow
Distracting Shot
Volley
Throw Dirt
Optional
Pain Inverter
Finish Him
Optional 2
Optional 2 had either battle standard of honor, or save yourselves or ebon sin most of the time. Sometime ymlad. Optional 1 was frozen soil in areas with ressing fows, (summit, undead in deso etc). If i wanted IAS id grab flail there, or lightning reflexes. Works a charm.
Btw, I personally find BHA/Epidemic to e a lil.. weak. Id rather have an unset secondary, because volley only really aoe interupts like once every 3-4 seconds, and the AoE daze really isnt that good i find. Also I made my heroes bring splinter for barrage.
Got Legendary Master of the North and Elonian vanqusher with that build.
If I was bored, I also used a pet based spear build which was fun, sometimes turret ranger. Tried barrage, but its just crap and boring. Thumping in PVE is good 2... or can be

You could attempt Barrage + Concussion. Daze is a devastating condition to put on a caster, BHA and Concussion Shot can both apply it but with BHA it is far easier.

In HM there becomes an increased need of shutdown of some sort or else your going to find yourself wiping quite often. While it may be possible to splinter barrage your way through NM quite easily, you'll find that being able to lock down a 400 damage dealing boss in HM to be much more damaging in an indirect way.
As everyone else has already suggested:
BHA, Distracting Shot, Savage Shot, Epidemic, Volley, PvE Skills/Optional.

Ranger vanquishing build
Hello
well i vanquished everything in every campain and expansion, 26 maxed titles here on my ranger, and i ran basically the same build that zelgadissan suggest in his post, broadhead arrow is tops in hardmode, also having a SS necro and interupt mesmer helps alot to shutdown casters. if you have access to eton , pain inverter is also devaastating on bosses.

I typically go R/W Stance Axe when vanquishing and throw in [Save Yourselves] for fun. I take a slightly moded SABway 3 Necro system as well as 2 monks and 2 Eles as henchies, if available.
There were a few places were I was forced to put up consets prior to my starting to use "SY" and it helped alot, even at only r3 Luxon.
Save Yourselves
Dwarven Stability
Lightning Reflexes
Triple Chop {E}
Cyclone Axe
Whrilwind Chop
Distracting Chop
Distracting Strike
12 Axe
15 Exp (16 if I use a con set becuase then I get another second of LR, 2 secs with DS)
I like to be a melee to grab and hold the Aggro until the minions can get into the fray. The multiple AoE Axe attacks make it REALLY easy to spam "SY"

If you're holding aggro isn't a little meh to be spamming SY in the same scenario?
That is assuming something didn't slip by ofcourse.

Tyla, tell that to the godmode sword build... theres no difference between that build and the build orange posted... well obviously godmode sword spams it better, but thats not my point. Melee does not mean holding aggro, as evident by the aforementioned build.
